Teams from five Texas universities are among a field of more than 24 universities and colleges that will compete Oct. 19-21 in the first National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship at Lewisville Lake.
The tournament is being presented by Fox College Sports with 19 hours of prime time television coverage planned for the event. Headquarters is Sneaky Petes Marina, and weigh-ins are scheduled to be held there at 3 p.m. each day.
Texas schools who have entered include Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Stephen F. Austin State. The full field will fish during the first two days of competition with the top five teams with the highest cumulative weight advancing to the finals.
The five schools participating in the finals will be competing for $25,000 in prize money.
